  1. sps update (no pictures sorry)

Just a quick update on the current status of my tank and newest attempt at acropora as well as an update on a couple of others. Fist off I am excited to say that it appears I seem to be getting some new growth at the tips of my acropora and also I seem to have some very nice coloration changes in the new growth on the tips. All of the polyps are very open and eager at all times.

I am currently still dosing prodiobio, digest, and reefbooster every two weeks and I am target feeding the ...

  3. quick update

A couple little quick hits I wanted to share. As of Sunday December 23rd I officially added the first sps corals to the newly restarted tank. The best coral LFS in the area started ordering from ORA and have hired better employees that have that store really turning around so seeing some SPS I really could not resist so I purchased a purpleish acropora and a BoP Birdsnest which I dipped, acclimated, dimmed the lights down a bit, and within 10 minutes of placing them in the tank the polyps were fully ...

  4. well, it's been a while and my tank has paid for it :(

Hey guys, I just thought I would give a quick update since it has been a couple months since my last one. First let me start by saying I have sadly neglected my tank but not because I wanted to but I got a promotion at work then my boss took a vacation meaning I got to do his job (meaning I am typing this on my work break now.) My sps after growing and looking good went into decline browning out, loss of polyps, and in one case rtn (which has stopped at the tips of the coral.)

    I think ...

  5. What to Do?

Below is my Birdsnet as it is today.

As you can see the core of the colony is overrun with Algae and probably dead. However, all the branches are growing like mad and putting out new tips. So, would it be better to leave it alone and hope my new clean-up crew can clean it up? Or, do I frag the healthy branches and start new colonies?
    Thanks.
    Phil
