  1. Got a Galaxea Green

I unexpectedly bought a Galaxea Green frag today... Left the car at the washing station, 45 minutes queue, went for a walk with the kids and decided to check out an LFS closeby which I hadn't been to in years.

Well, they had a small Galaxea Grenn frag which looked good and wasn't expensive (R$80 ~ US$40) so I decided to get it. I've got good flow in the tank now, good lighting too, so it should work out.

I got a compliment today regarding one of my recent images, as it was true to life. To me, what I share on the web needs to match as closely to what the eye sees, and I try my best to keep it accurate. A few years ago, I specifically remember a guest standing in front of my reef tank and they said "wow, your corals look like your pictures." I had to laugh, since that should be our goal after all. Still, we often see images of corals that look incredible and wonder why ours don't look as nice. ...

  4. The maintenance never ends, right?

The tank is really doing well lately, but that doesn't mean stop taking care of the mundane stuff. Tonight I hopped off the couch and scraped the inside of the sump clean of everything, siphoned it all out down the french drain, wiped down the skimmer body and cleaned the collection cup. While the two Dart pumps were off, the 5" strainers were soaked in vinegar & water, as well as the frag tank's Durso & perforated pipe. Sponges and other creatures were clogging the holes, and what I'm assuming ...

  5. Looking for some guidence and help

this is my first entry on reef addicts. I am looking for some advice and guidence. I have been in this hobby for about 8 years. I have let my tank go down hill when everything that I was bought would die. A few times i wanted to take down my 90 gallon but could not bring my self to it. Recently I found out that I have been giving wrong info from the LFS, I have installed a refugium with live sand, rubble rock, cheato, a bio pellet reactor and a reef octopus 6 skimmer. I still need to upgrade ...
