  1. Her Sump

ok, so here is the start of what i promised. im gonna start with the sump. yes, most will probably laughg, but i just recently finished doing a 10 gallon sump on her 20 gallon tank. ha ha. well, the whole reason behind it is that our tanks are only to prepare for the future. eventually we are going to have something in the neighborhood of a 150 gallon. so... this is all a learning curve/ frag spree. we are growing corals for the big tank, learning what brands, fish, corals we like, and figuring ...

  2. My Tank is now one month old

So here I am a month after I started and I am doing good. It started off kind of rough with the loss of a Elbi Angel as well as the mysterious disappearance of a Kohl Tang and a damaged swim bladder on a Fairy wrasse. I honestly think it was the collection method of who ever caught these guys as I got them from the same store at roughly the same time. During that time frame all of my parameters were dead on with nothing that stood out as beeing way off kilter. Right now I have 11 fish and all are ...
  3. new

    Hey everybody,
Well, im new here, and this is my first blog..... EVER. Anyways, I found this site from an extremely hepful diy on melevesreef about building with acrylic. Just finished doing a sump on my girlfriends tank. All seems to be well with it, and I'm very happy with the outcome. Ill definately be posting pics and info on it all soon. But, the basics are that we both have a 20 gallon reef tank that has become an obsession. Anyways, that's it for now, and there'll be tons more very ...
  4. DIY sump Finished

DIY Glass sump assembled and water tested.
This is the biggest tank I have made so far myself and so far it looks good with no leaks or bowing.
Sump holds around 120G (440L) of water
    60x26x18" (150x65x45cm)
Sump will handle around 40G (150 L) of water backflowing when return pumps are shut down which should accomodate the volume drained from tank and fishroom.
    skimmers partition is 16x26x10" (40x65x25cm) then a 18G (65 L) Return partition and a couple ...

  5. Straight from the Ocean to my 157L (41.475 Gallons) Tank. Only 2 weeks old!

I guess I will finally make my first post here on Reef Addicts as I have been lurking around for a week or so. I am currently living in Okinawa Japan where we have some of the best diving in the world with all the prized fish and corals. After diving for the last 2 years here, I finally decided to get back into reefing after a 3 year hiatus. While I was in California I had a 125 gallon reef and a 60 gallon reef. I never could get up the nerve ...
