  1. 75 Gallon-RR Update Lighting

So finally I decided to work on my lighting again. As most can recall I bought a Current USA 4-T5 light fixture. I took the canopy completely out and been running that fixture. But, the ultimate plan was to put that fixture in my canopy. Curent USA makes the fixture to fit in most canopies.

My son came over to visit me yesterday and he helped me put the fixture in the canopy. I have two 110 VHO bulbs in the front and now have the 4-54 watts T5s in the back.

  2. Google Sketchup of the Sump

In the planning stages of building a sump for my three nano's so I made a quick sketchup. The dimension are 55"x9"x14" with the total volume around 28g. The strange dimensions are due to the stand footprint restricting the width. An algae scrubber will be implemented at the far right of the sump and a carbon reactor will be hidden on the other side of the wall behind the ATS. This design will bring my overall system volume to around 65g. Let me know if you have any questions ...

  3. The Stair-stepping Nano Stand

Finally making some progress on the nanos. I finished the stand and have all 3 of the display tanks, but I'm still undecided on the sump. Hopefully I can custom make a 55x9x14 inch 4 section sump, but I haven't ever worked with acrylic before. Maybe I'll get a estimate on a Melev's Reef sump. The stand is made with 2x4's, plywood, and over 80 wood screws. Surprisingly it is very level on all three sections. The holes in the stand are for plumbing.

  4. Ordered the new hood...

Thursday I put the order in for the new aquarium hood, with my favorite woodworking shop, LD Marcenaria (great quality, they built all my apartment to my design).

The sketch below shows the hood's design, it is high so my DIY LED fixture will fit inside it, with the controller and the power source above it (on the tray that crosses the middle). The controller is the glassy box on the tray, and the power source is the smaller gray box.

  5. Greener use of waste water

This is one of those projects I've thought about for some time, but finally got outdoors and implemented it. I wanted to see how this works, and will clean it up after I've had a little time to work out any kinks in the execution.
