  2. My new tank build up

I decided to upgrade my nano to one step up. I had a few requirements:

    1. Not too big. 42 x 24 X 20
    2. Had to blend into existing house and furniture. Where possible use existing items vs buy new and have it accepted by wife
    3. Have the system set up to be as low maintenance and automated as possible! Wife will not deal with tank related issues when I'm out of town on business!

So this is my story of the tank build up in San Francisco, Bay Area!

  4. My Biopellets

    Biopellet Reactor:

I ran a NextReef SMR1 Biopellet reactor on my last tank, and had really good results with it. The constant carbon source help grow and feed bacteria that keep the nitrates and phosphates reduced. The levels were undetectable in my old tank. I feel this stability is necessary for optimal growth and coloration in keeping SPS. I was debating on adding the reactor now while the tank is new, or waiting 6 months or so till the reef was more mature. So I called ...

  5. Misc equipment (heater, Vortechs, ATO)

    Automatic Top-Off

I have always used JBJ's ATO unit on my tanks for topping off my tanks evaporation. I am going back with the JBJ ATO again this time. I have always liked it. I also like that it times out after about a minute and a half so you don't have to worry about flooding your tank. To resolve the issue that occurs sometimes of it timing out and not coming back on, someone suggested plugging it into the ReefKeeper on a cycle and making it cut off and back on every ...
