So this is what I'm thinking for the sump. I'm going to add the baffles to make the mini fuge area. I like fuges more for the critter growth than anything. I'm going to have to play with the ATO and return pump spacing once I figure out the skimmer I'm going to use. I want something that is quiet and small.

I'm going to have to do a lot of skimmer research as this is the first time I've had a tank with a sump! :-O

  2. Elos coral placement plan, ideas welcome

I originally wanted to take a purist approach and only house Clowns and BTAs, however, the more I looked at my rockscape the more I envisioned a SMALL variety of corals. I would hate to waste PAR and flow on an anemone that can adapt to low/low conditions, so here is a coral dream team.

Assorted BTAs on left side of tank
Zoas on the foreground "arm" of rocks
Table Acros right in the focal point, high flow, directly under lights.

  3. Jessy's Candyshop Cubed - The Intro

Yes, hell hath frozen over. And yes I finally got another tank. It has been over a year and a half since I broke down my 150 Gallon Candyshop. It has been a long break but it has been good for me. I moved to a new apartment and have made room for a smaller tank. I decided on the Current Solana XL 60 cube. I picked it up this morning and I think I found the perfect spot for it next to my desk so I can stare at it all day (since I work from home).

  4. A late night perspective

With the room under construction, I'm enjoying this moonlit look of the fishroom. There's a quiet haunting feel to it, and it needed sharing.

  5. 17 gallon's lighting predicament

So the DIY stunner strip was a failure. I gave it a chance, and the two daylight bulbs simply overpower the blue LED's.

I decided on ditching the LEDs, and swapping one D-D aquablue + for an ATI blue plus. According to the PAR levels by Grimreefers, this will actually take away about 2 - 5% PAR overall, but give a nice actinic look.

I tried the two daylights alone, and just couldn't force myself to like the aesthetics. A few of my mushrooms dissolved as well, so I ...
