Well I finally took the plunge to get a T5 fixture. Ive been contemplating changing from my 3 400 watt MHs to a 8x80 Power module for about a year. I like the ability to change the bulbs and get a different color temp in the tank. Also my tank has been running hotter then I like lately. Marc doesn't like T5 lighting so he will be the big test next time he comes down. ...
I got both tanks plumbed together into my tiny sump and waited a couple days to make sure everything looks good. It does, so today I moved a lot of my coral over. I took out everything that wasn't on a huge rock. I still have an encrusing monti and a table acro in the 55, along with a small clam that has attached to his rock that I don't have room for. I also got out my RBTA and percs, but I'm hoping to borrow a fish trap for the rest. I can't believe how small my RBTA is when stressed out ...
It's been awhile since I've done an update post on the tank, and in that time I've gotten a lot of new goodies. Unfortunately I've been moving stuff around a lil too much in the tank, so I have a tiny diatom bloom atm on the substrate, and a bit of algae has popped up here and there, but overall it's actually staying quite clean. I had a lot of pics for y'all but wanted to delete a few I uploaded and when I click backspace it took me out of EVERYTHING I had already done. ;-/ So, his a simply update! Yesterday I hung my T-5's I had on my other tank in my stand and ran all the electrical except the lights, they still need to be done and mounted all the way on the canopy back. Canopy is half painted because its to heavy for just me to take off and no one has been over to help me take it off. New T-5's been hung in rear of canopy. ...
This has been a crazy week with my water parameters taking a hit due to the tank breakdown. The Alkalinity spiked up to 15 dKH, but I turned off the calcium reactor 5 days ago. Water temperatures have risen higher than I prefer, but I've got that normalized as well. The LR (live rock) in the barrel has been circulating and skimmed, and I've been checking it for Ammonia and Nitrite, but it never cycled. The sponges never started dying off, fortunately. I've started moving some of the rock into ...
