  1. My new light!!

Hey guys, just checking in to show the progress I've made. Over the past week I had a 90 gallon tank and stand listed on Craigslist. I didn't know how fast it would go, but I listed it on the high side of what I found in my area. By Thursday of last week the tank (shown below) sold!!

Also listed on Craigslist was an AquaticLife 48in. 6x54W T5 light. By the end of Friday I had the light back to my house and running above the tank. Here's ...

  2. Sometimes, you just get lucky...

While attending NERAC last weekend, I never had a chance to purchase any raffle tickets that day. A friend of mine named Kathy offered to loan me $20 cash since they only accepted cash or checks. With her assistance, I was actually buying my tickets as they pulled the first ticket. I bought $10 worth of $1 tickets, and got 12 green tickets. Then I spent $10 more on the $2 tickets and got six red tickets.

I quickly separated the green tickets and tossed them in the community bucket. ...

  3. A new clean up crew at last

Nearly 14 months ago, I set up the 400g with the critters I already had. It's time to replenish those snails and hermits once more. I usually use Keys Critters out of Florida for that need, and organized a group buy on DFWMAS last week. The order was placed Sunday and the box will arrive this Thursday.

I ordered a variety. You can see the spreadsheet itemized here.

  4. 245G and Breeding Room Updates

Here is the latest on the tank in the last couple of months. I have done 2 major updates:

This first update was that I bought a MARS unit which allowed me to eliminate the back section breeding setup (which I will later used for larval rearing and other stuff). I spent parts of this weekend plumbing the remaining breeding set up into the sump that was part of the MARS unit. I purchased a Super Reef Octopus 5000 External Skimmer that should be here this week to complete the breeding ...

  5. Bryopsis DOH! So I have a new question....

So here I have finally discovered that the algae I have been fighting isn't hair algae or caulerpra toxifica but bryopsis instead . I know that the two main ways that people seem to fight this stuff is by raising the magnesium (not a fan of that idea with me actually keeping millepora alive for a change) and the other option a foxface rabbit fish.

I am not scared of adding a foxface to the bioload of my tank as I am confident it won't make any noticeable dent in that but ...
