  1. Ehiem 1262

I picked up a used RS-180 today with an Ehiem 1262 pump on it, and it appears that the pump might be bad. I only paid $100 for skimmer and pump so not too upset but hoping it can be fixed. It pumps but not strong enough water will not rise fully up the skimmer body. It only goes to the gate valve adjustment tube. It does not flow out the top of the gate valve with the neck removed and valve opened or closed. Any thoughts?

  2. My new tank.

This is my first blog post ever...I have really enjoyed reading and following along with all of your posts, so I figured now would be a good time to start my own...

I am sooo excited to finally move up to a little larger tank! I recently purchased a 58 gallon oceanic with center overflow, along with a 15 gallon sump. This is a pic of it running before I bought it. It's less than 3 years old and in really good condition.

  3. Electricity usage in Texas

It's that time of year again when many of us are going to be powering up our A/C systems to keep our homes and tanks cool. With that usually comes higher bills, so if you've not done anything about energy savings, now's the time.

Go to PowerToChoose.org and type in your zipcode. You can go through all the energy providers and find a good deal. For me, I prefer 12 months fixed, and limited the list to show just that. I've been with StarTex for the past 12 months, and was ...

  4. So I'm new here, but got a few questions

Well, I found the site by the way of melev's reef... his 29 gallon is definitely the inspiration for mine.

I started a saltwater tank 3 years ago when I got my apartment. Frankly I always wanted a fish tank, the parents would have nothing of it, so when I got my own place, it literally was the first thing I did. My wife really got interested in it too after we had some diving trips in jamaica for our honeymoon, so she's one of the reasons we've had to turn it into a reef tank (oh ...

  5. Slow progress

I have to admit it, I'm a bit frustrated. We picked up our new tank how long ago? About two months ago, that's when. And how much is actually done as far as getting the new setup going? Not enough, that's how much. LOL It's not all Jon's fault. We always have too many projects going on at once, and then add the three kids, work, a new puppy, and everyday life into the mix, and well....... Delayed gratification, I suppose.

Here are our curret stumbling blocks:
