  1. Are my lights killing my corals??

    I know this is a really dumb question but I really just have not other Idea what could be going on here.

    I have tested the parameters in the tank 160 reef 30 - 40 gallon sump. the tank has been running for 10 months now reading over the last three weeks
    sg 1.027 read with both hydrometer and refractometer
    am 0, nitrite 0 nitrate 10 ppm
    cal 385 - 400
    alk 9.6 - 10.5
    mg 1350
    phosphate 0.00 - 0.05
    tank temp between 76.7 and 77.9

  2. Thinking about plywood tanks....alot!!!

    Well i have a 75gallon already. things got put on hold since i came to school in texas. so ive been reading alot on forums and such. and since the first article i read about plywood tanks i have been INFATUATED. just the thought of making a bigger tank. But at the same time i havent started my 75 so i dont quite know what to expect. building the thing is not a problem. Right now im just thinking 6feet long, 3 feet wide, 30inches deep. but I'm wondering if a new guy to reefing should even be considering ...

    She's really taking up a lot of space lately. I may have to pull some LR out of the tank. This was taken earlier in the day before she engorged herself. It's a pretty creature, but it leaves little room for other stuff. The Capricornis to the left is almost a goner due to her sting.

  4. Macro shots from a LFS

    Today I drove over to Fish2morow, a fish store in Fort Worth about 30 minutes away with good traffic. As I walked around his beautiful store checking out the choice corals and fish, I started noticing little things. It didn't take long for me to run out to the car, grab my Nikon D90, 105mm Macro lens and a tripod to get a few of these shots.

  5. PVC glue?

    As most of you know, after adding a sump to my existing tank, my only SPS is dying, and now my frogspawn is looking very unhappy. Someone just told me that I should have let my PVC glue joints cure for 48 hours before adding them to the system. Since I had to make several of the joints in place, I only gave them a couple hours. Could that be what's poisoning my corals?
