  1. Valonia cleanup begun today

Today I started my war against Valonia, officially. :-) Nothing too special, just decided it was time to start thinning them out by manual removal as a start.

I took a hose, 1/4inch, cut the tip at an angle to make it easy to scrape rock with it, and did a water change scraping the rocks. One rock that was literally covered with Valonias for months is now almost clear. Another water changes like this one should be enough to reduce the bulk of the Valonias.

Any better suggestions for around the same price, or is there something way better that would be worth the money? I guess my first issue that I need help with is the stand. I had a local club member contracted to help build the stand for $20/hr but he has since backed out...after telling me for a month he was building it. Now the ...

  5. The Plunge Phase 2

Ok so a busy busy week and here is how it went down.
Tuesday AM went and took down a 77gal system with a friend. It consisted of about 70lbs of rock/ 60lbs of sand some fish and soft corals. The fish and coral where bagged to take to my LFS for safe keeping while I changed over my 108gal tank. The rock was all put into buckets filled and with water to come home with me that I placed in a large tote with my fluval 404 running for circulation/filtering and a 300watt heater. (media from 77gal ...
