This A. tortuosa has a few burnt tips because alkalinity crept up again. Tough to dial in what my tank needs because there aren't a ton of corals to absorb it like previously.

  2. To reef... or not to reef?

    Hi All,
My name is Jim and I have been "assisting my yougest son (21 yrs) in converting his 75G freshwater to salt. Two months so far and WOW what a ride. I am absolutely hooked on the science and complexity of it all.

Now for the question... is it advisable to consider owning a reef if I plan to travel 3 or 4 weeks out of the year? I may be retiring at the end of next year and I plan to see some of this great country!

Any words of wisdom truly appreciated! ...

    Few questions:

what do I make the probe holder out of?

    I have seen other ...
  4. More New Frags!

I remodeled a website (http://www.thecoralshop.com) and the guy is paying me in corals. So... here's the list! If anyone wants any stuff from him the shipping is already paid for and pickup would be in Longview TX.

I'm going to wait until things heal from fragging, so just a few weeks and they're headed my way!

  5. My fighting conch, up close and personal

Wes donated this big Fighting Conch to my system because I have a lot of sand and space for it to enjoy. I've not measured the shell yet, but it's a beast. Note the Astrea snail to its right.

It has beautiful blue eyes that always keep track of what is going on in the tank.
