  2. Actinic pictures from the Frag Tank

    When my tanks are being blasted with blue, I do enjoy seeing the corals fluoresce. I tried to get a few pictures of the frags that are growing into little colonies as they wait for their bigger home. Super blue, filtered back with Photoshop.

    This acan colony was almost completely destroyed by pest anemones, but I saw some life and moved it into the frag tank. Look at the size of that one polyp. There's more DNA popping out nearby as well as behind it, so I have about four polyps ...

  4. Mithrax/algae balance and Aiptasias gone

    My tank hasn't seen much action lately, I have't been very good on the maintenance, but there is one thing I take pleasure in it: observing the balance between algae and mithrax crabs.

    I have two distinct areas with green hair algae, and a few areas now sparsely populated by with red bubble algae. The hair algae grows, then the crabs eat it and you see less of it, the reb bubble sometimes makes gains on a rock, a few weeks later thet are gone, the mithrax ate it.

  5. Back at it!

    Well, it's time to get back to my reef. Over the last two years, my tanks has neglected to say the least. I changed jobs, had a kid, and just life which caused my tank to go downhill slowly. During this time, I did perform the basics but not much more than that. To make matters even worse, I had a water change go bad which wiped out most of my fish and coral.
