2.5 gallon reef at new home

I thought I would share a few pictures of my small tank with some before and after pictures. I broke down my 65 g reef some time ago, (and for the mean time) (before I get a larger tank in the wall) (in the house that I dont have) I keep this small system.

I have had this system running for around 2 years or so, here are some old pictures...

Got the new light...






Ok, finally got some updated pictures. I am slowly transitioning to a SPS dom system, next I will need to get rid of the nems and the shroom. I have taken my tank form work to home and switched to bare bottom. The tank has been set up for a couple months now and until tonight it was kinda on hold. Tonight I got rid of the ugly frag plugs and glued them right to the rock. I feel like it looks so much cleaner. Now I ready to watch the growth. I also added a hang on back just to run some carbon, but it is too much and I need to turn down the flow out of it.

After removing the frag plugs and utimatly creating more frags than when I started with...






So as of today, I have no fish, no CUC, a small heater and small HOB, par 38 LED ecoxitc, MP10wes, running some carbon and 20-70% water changes weekly to bi weekly.

I think I can finally let it sit and grow out now.

    wow, that is a minimalist approach if I ever saw one. I think it rocks. It's too bad the tank isn't a rimless. then I would say screw the new big tank

    Thank you, I was going for a minimalist look and tried to use some negative space. Yea I almost thought about taking off the black rim on this one but I just left it alone because of the added stress of the waves that the MP10 sometimes gives off. I would love a rimless, I will prob do a custom one sometime this year.

    Thanks for sharing this. I've got a bunch of old small tanks at home right now, so I may have to try something like this with my old 10 gal. Please keep us updated.

    Right on! Your torch and frogspawn look great. I'll look forward to your new build.

    I think its funny how hyped up vortechs are (I've got one myself) but I've never seen a set up where the pump is as big as the tank! lol j/k

    I am looking forward to going rimless... I would want a small system.. something like a 40" long 8" wide 3-9" deep with a deep end with an over flow and a shallow end where waves might crash.

    This is a different shape, but what a rimless would look like. ..

    So it's what, 150x turnover? You are insane and I like it.

    People on reefcentral would hunt you down and do unforgivable things but at the same time you obviously have good husbandry skills.

    We need more people in this hobby that buck the system.
