Tank build update

Rate this Entry
Just a little update. Im sort of slow on getting this done.

Got the LR from BRS. I am impressed with the rock, and the sizes they gave me. The piece of shelf that they gave me is more then I expected... im not complaining, i just got to figure out what to do with it. The pukani is really light stuff.

After moving the tank, I was able to get some more work done.

I painted everything with oil based kilz that would likely come into contact with water (no pictures).

I also put down some egg crate and started on my rock pile, its my first pass and I may or may not change it. Knowing me, I will probably leave it alone. The pukani locks together pretty well.

Marc cut me some nice acrylic baffles for my sump. I will install those this weekend (or I plan to install them), and then I will be one step closer to getting the tank done.

Nice looking rock. When I upgrade my tank, I might need to get me some. Like the back of the tank also. Been thinking of doing that also.

Heath, nice to see the tank progress a little more. What are your goals with this set up?

I plan on keeping lps and sps. Not sure which one I will end up doing more of.

As far as equipment goes, I intend on doing:
    MP40
    Mag 18 return (already have)
Reef Octopus skimmer, 6 inch body (already have)
Precision marine calcium reactor (already have)
    Biopellets
    Reactor for Carbon
    ATO
DIY led fixture with two t5s to supplement.

Biopellets and carbon will be fed off of the mag 18.

I also want to build a cabinet to hold my ato container, Crap for the calcium reactor, and a dj power switch station.

Nice to see your tank coming along. tank will look awesome with that rock work when it matures. It looks like you have almost everything to get it cranked up, can't wait!

Sweet. I love that rock. When I go big, I'm going with that stuff!

Just remember if your return pump feeds reactors, then they all power down when it is off. I prefer to have a separate pump for all the other gear if possible.

The cabinet to the right or left is a great idea and allows more space under the tank for the sump.
