  1. Why we should all buy a RO-DI unit (from melev...cough cough)

While reading and posting a response to a fellow reefer I got off on this topic and rather than typing all this up on a post I figured I would share my knowledge on this subject in a blog rather than a response post. To give everyone a little background I am former US Air Force and my job consisted of plumbing, natural gas, fire systems, maintenance and new installations, as well as water purification. I worked in this particular career field for 6 years before leaving the military to spend more ...
  2. Do I or don't I...?

So, I'm beginning this blog entry before I upload my pictures. A few days ago I wrote up a blog entry showing a picture that made me think my tank had microbubbles in it. To date it appears better to me, but for comparison's sake I took a few pictures of the tank last night. In one picture the scenario is comparable to the scenario under which the picture from my other post was taken. In the other I have turned off the protein skimmer and then actually shut off the return (for those unfamiliar ...

    1. Where the wires from the drivers go through the sharp edge of the heat sink and in to my fixture its possible it cut the insulation.
    2. A while back I damaged one of my LED’s when I had to add longer wires, I accidently

  4. Midnight's 300g Build Concrete Day (warning lots of pictures )

On Tuesday the concrete guys showed up to get the aquarium pad done and open up the brick wall.

In preparation I had to move some old electrical and pull a fascia board from the top. To my pleasant surprise the brick stopped short of the ceiling, this meant that we could take down the whole wall and not support upper brick work.

    I wasn't able to stay all day so I didn't get ...
  5. Acans turning white?

Ive had the 3 species of acans in my tank for about two months now and I am noticing them turning white on the tops? I run all LEDs and they are in the sand bed but one that I had mid level in my structure has also gone white. These acans are all reproducing very quickly one of which has grown 6 heads from the original 3 that I had a month ago. My levels are all perfect Nitrate and Nitrite 0 Phosphates 0 pH 8.4 calcium 450-500 and Alkalinity 9. All of my other corals are doing very well and I have ...
