So I came home, and found my return pump sucking air and blowing it into the DT.

Open the cabinet doors to find the water level in the return area was low....
now I know the water level didnt evaporate that much as I added like 2-3 gallons of top off yesterday.I adjusted the return pump flow down to allow the water to catch back up and then was able to open the valve completely open again and things stabilized and no issues....I added another gallon of top off just to be safe... ...

In 1998 when I decided to enjoy this hobby, my resource was the local fish store. I bought some 'live' rock and some clownfish, as well as a number of inverts. I recently upgraded from a 70g to a 260g tank and decided never again! Unfortunately, everything I found online regarding ...

  5. When full, shut the skimmer down...

It never fails, when you are traveling, sleeping, or generally busy -- that is when your protein skimmer seemingly decides to erupt like a volcano. The cup overflows with foam and watery solution, and depending on how the system is set up will get everything in the vicinity wet. The protein skimmer I have is big, and even centered in my sump the resulting spatter just gets everywhere: the refugium light fixture, the lip of my sump, the metalwork of the stand, nearby tubing, wiring and cables. ...
