Howdy Reef Addicts!

I have finally completed the fish/equipment room in my basement! I built a 6' x 8' room that will hold my sump, filtration, water top off, chemicals, etc. All reef related items. I will also have a 10gal quarantine tank set up here.

I thought that the room was going to be plenty large, but now I find myself wishing it were larger, and there isn't even anything in it yet! I ended up using a high-gloss white paint for durability, even though I didn't want ...

So I finally decided to take the plunge into LEDs and after much debate I have chosen Ecotech Radion Pros. I picked up a couple Gen 1 standard models back in October but they didnt seem like enough for my tank so I went ahead and upgraded them to Pros in November. So what I have now is three Radion Pro Gen 2s over my 210 gallon mixed reef which replaced my three 14k Phoenix 250 watt Metal Halides.

Right then.Float sensor stuck on due to little white snails.Ato thinks water is low in sump.Pumps ro water into system untill sump overflows dumping i"m guessing 20 gal onto basement floor.And the external skimmer pump.Then gfci for that room pops.No pwr to system for several hours.Thats what I discovered at 10:30 am.Scrambling all day doing damage control and cleanup.

I mentioned last week that I would be writing about my sump placement at some point in the future. I like to experiment with sumps and equipment, I love refugiums, the idea of experimenting with cryptic zones or algae turf scrubbers, so I really didn't like the idea of trying to cram everything in the stand under the 24" x 24" aquarium stand. Hello everybody!,

So this Christmas I decided to treat my reef with a needed piece of equipment: the AquaMaxx Biopellet Reactor. I got the XL reactor as it was only an extra $40 or so and for when I upgrade to a larger system in the future. I went with the AquaMaxx brand mainly due to Melev's advice/review and bc I was impressed with AquaMaxx's quality, price, and customer service. For pellets I went with Ecobak, for no reason in particular, getting the 1000ml package.
