  1. tank is struggling

    happy new year to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I am having some problems with my 65 gal reef. Over the last month I have seen a decline in my corals. I went to my fish store got some water tested. magnesium phosphate salinity, all came back fine ( i really trust these guys) I tested all the others nitrate 0 ammonia 0 calcium 400.
    ph was off 8.5 here is the one I am confused about ALK my reading says it is in the ok area others I have talked to say it is low,my test kit is red sea ...

  3. Final water tests of the year, and an update

    While I do tend to test various specific parameters as needed, I've gotten into a bad habit of not doing the full battery of tests regularly this year. Just looking at this chart, I can see just how infrequently I measured using all the kits. Part of the reason is because I don't like finding out what's wrong because then I have to fix it. For 2011 however, I need to work on a better mindset. Rather than fear the worst, I need to get back into the routine of testing to avoid problems.

  4. North Indonesia Dive holiday

    Hey guy's just got back from a magical week in North Indonesia. We went to the Bunaken Marine Park for an amazing dive holiday. Water was incredible! Visibility was between 20 and 40 meters. The reef is really healthy. Amazingly the water temp is a constant 29 degrees during the day and 28 at night. Goes to show that as long as your water chemistry is stable all corals will adapt. I also brought some water back with me, here are the results.
