Thanks to some fellow Reefers I have some used Marco Rock for my tank. I have cleaned off the rock with Muriatic acid, and rinsed and is now sitting in a Rubbermaid tub with salt water from my tank mixing with an old pump and a couple of small pieces of rock from my DT. My question now is to find the best way to seed it and put it in my tank. I will be replacing all of the rock that is currently in my tank with this rock. Lately I noticed I have been having a Nitrate and Phosphate issue in my tank, so I started looking into dosing Vodka to try and help out with this problem. In doing more research I came across an article called VSV dosing which stands for Vodka Sugar Vinegar. Well after a few months of battling with Aptasia I have decided that it is a losing battle and I am going to make a change. I am getting all new rock for my tank. The Rock is considered "Live Rock" I guess as it is from an estblished tank that is being broken down. However there is some aptasia on the new rock. So the plan is to get the new rock, soak it in Muriadic acid for 10min or so and then Rinse it off and let is dry out. This should kill off all living organisms on the rock. Once ...

I picked up a used RS-180 today with an Ehiem 1262 pump on it, and it appears that the pump might be bad. I only paid $100 for skimmer and pump so not too upset but hoping it can be fixed. It pumps but not strong enough water will not rise fully up the skimmer body. It only goes to the gate valve adjustment tube. It does not flow out the top of the gate valve with the neck removed and valve opened or closed. Any thoughts?

Picked up a used MP40W last week from another member and then last night got a new EcoSmart MP40 and I have been playing with them ever since. Because I only have 1 EcoSmart pump I can not use any of the EcoSmart programs with both pumps so I have it setup currently in long pulse mode at about 80-85% power and 10sec pulse. I also have it go into night mode at about 10pm when all of my lights turn off. So I was just wondering what program everyone else is using and why?
