  1. So your battling bryopsis? Here is how I got rid of mine.

For anyone who has ever battled Satan's algae (bryopsis) currently or in the past know that it can be a very daunting task and will test your mettle to the point that giving up even crosses our minds. Bryopsis is not your typical algae, it does not require high nitrates or phosphates to thrive. Bryopsis will strike a clean spotless tank just the same as a dirty tank so despite what you may have been told if all you have is bryopsis in your tank then you do not have phosphates leaking from your live ...
  2. My new light!!

Hey guys, just checking in to show the progress I've made. Over the past week I had a 90 gallon tank and stand listed on Craigslist. I didn't know how fast it would go, but I listed it on the high side of what I found in my area. By Thursday of last week the tank (shown below) sold!!

Also listed on Craigslist was an AquaticLife 48in. 6x54W T5 light. By the end of Friday I had the light back to my house and running above the tank. Here's ...

  3. Do I or don't I...?

So, I'm beginning this blog entry before I upload my pictures. A few days ago I wrote up a blog entry showing a picture that made me think my tank had microbubbles in it. To date it appears better to me, but for comparison's sake I took a few pictures of the tank last night. In one picture the scenario is comparable to the scenario under which the picture from my other post was taken. In the other I have turned off the protein skimmer and then actually shut off the return (for those unfamiliar ...

  4. Bristle worm trap

I kind of like bristleworms but now I just have too many of them. Whenever I move a rock I notice it is loaded with the little slimers. I recently had a small clam up on the rocks and it fell onto the gravel. The worms sucked it out in no time so now it is war. Over the years I have made dozens of bristleworm traps and just about any design works. You can even put a piece of clam or fish into a piece of stocking and they will be stuck all over it.
This design I made in about 5 minutes ...

  5. 9 hours well spent!

Well everything finally came in and so my day was spent putting it all together aside from the bio pellet reactor. I had requested a completely different one but to make a long story short Coral Vue sent me this bohemoth to make up for the delay, unfortunately I have no use for a reactor this big and will be trading it in on one a little more tank size appropriate (if they had sent me a larger skimmer that would be a different story though)
