  1. 42 Gallon Hex build

    After being out of the hobby a few years I decided to get back in after a visit to Melev's website. So i decided to setup a smaller tank I had. It just happened to be a Hex tank. I wanted to used LED lighting so I needed a canopy to install the lighting in. So here goes.

  2. Help to start my reef Tank in a good way

    Hello Reefadicts.

    My name is Pedro and I am starting in this amazing world of reef tanks. I have previous experience with fresh water aquariums, but I want to change to saltwater!
    I am doing a new Tank for my house in Madrid and I would appreciate to know your oppinion if the equipment that I am considering are correct or I should consider some other options . Even more, if I am considering some equipment that are not needed, please tell me.

  3. Long time no update

    Well it has been 5 years since I posted to my blog. I moved houses and now have a huge finished basement and moderately sized unfinished section as well. I am hoping to start a 75 gallon stand this weekend to re-home my cichlids and then I am off to my 125 gallon reef build attempt. Still have all the equipment I posted 5 years ago and now I have two 40 gallon breeders from the $1 a gallon sale at Petco for a QT and Hospital tank.

  4. Covering the overflow box

    Back in 2011, I built a black overflow cover for the 400g to avoid nuisance algae growth in that external compartment. Here are a few pictures.





    The Apex probes were inserted through that lid, and the caps of the Durso standpipes poke up through individual openings. It worked quite nicely.

  5. 1000Gal---Leaking bulkhead repair and replacement

    So the last blog consisted of some pictures of a leaking bulkhead..........yeah a little scary. To make matters worse this bulkhead was on a closed loop system, so no overflow. Yes panic ensued.

    The leak was caused by yours truly. While removing the remainder of the plumbing on the species systems I lost my balance and fell right back into the ball valve that sits underneath the tank.
