  1. millepora light question

Currently I am running a 6 bulb t5 setup at 54 watts a piece on a 48' long 75 gallon that hand about 3" above the water. I have always wanted and have tried on a few occasions to keep your standard acropora and millepora with no positive results to report all parameters are reading good, nitrate, phosphate, ammonia, mag, calc, dkh but I keep reading that rapid bleaching (which is what I keep experiencing) is caused by too much light and too little light results in browning and discoloration. ...
  2. Do I or don't I...?

So, I'm beginning this blog entry before I upload my pictures. A few days ago I wrote up a blog entry showing a picture that made me think my tank had microbubbles in it. To date it appears better to me, but for comparison's sake I took a few pictures of the tank last night. In the other I have turned off the protein skimmer and then actually shut off the return (for those unfamiliar ...

I suppose the 29 gallon must be feeling jealous of the attention and parts bill for the 75 gallon. Today while I was home for lunch the second of the main tank power compact light units went up in smoke. Horrible smell! Luckily, I was home and was able to get it unplugged and outside. No fire, but did I mention the horrible smell. Fried ballast is not a pleasant smell.

So in the last couple of months both 65 watt power compacts (used for the main lighting in the tank) have ...

  4. Mandarin Setosa

My lfs owner called me today and said he would have a mandarin setosa coming in today. I googled this coral to try and get a better understanding of the placement and care needs. It looks to have a really strong orange/red color and it's seems to have guidelines for care like other montipora, but I was wondering if any of y'all have this coral & if so where is it's placement in u're tank w/ reguards to flow & lighting.
  5. Equipment list for 300g Build

This entry will discuss equipment that I pan on using for my 300g build.

Automation will be handled by the APEX controller that I already have. I will be adding an EB8 and possibly a 2nd ph probe to handle the Calc reactor.
