House Fire

Rate this Entry
Last night while I was watching a movie, I saw a lot of bright red lights race past my home. We've had paramedics out here for some of my older neighbors in the past, but something made me double check. When I looked up the street, I saw a neighbor's home on fire. So I grabbed my Nikon and a 50mm lens to see if I could get some pictures. Late night shooting isn't easy, and I figured this was a good excuse to try. I shot in Manual mode at a high ISO, and kept the aperture around f/8.

The people that lived there were out of town, and as of right now I still don't know if their dogs were saved or not. The fire was over the garage area, and my guess is that it started in the attic. Three fire trucks plus additional vehicles arrived to battle the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other homes.

The good news is that the house looks to be intact. And our fire hydrant works.

Nice Photo's Marc although unfortunate circumstances with the subject mater. I'm glad your neighbors are safe.

Man that sucks. Even if a flame never touches other parts of the house, its gonna have smoke damage and smell like bar-b-q until it gets replaced.

looks like the FD did a good job of knocking the fire down quick and saving the rest of the home

Marc, any word on the pets yet, or if the interior of the house was indeed spared?

No, I don't know more. I've been past the house a few times but no-one was around.
