Lighting

To Kill the cyano Ive been fighting with all year. Its causing me a huge amount of stress worrying for my corals. My Bubble master 250 has pulled a full cup of pink skimmate every 12 hours on day two. I wonder if I can keep up today.

I have a 10% WC ready to go. I think Ill vacuum my sump and frag tank out just to help matters.

I'm an aquariast from way back. I've been keeping tanks over 25 years, and had a marine tank over 20 years ago (first marriage) and loved it. My ex-wife gave it away, after the fish died, to one of her boyfriends, who kept a snake in it. So right before New Year's Eve I had to go out to Terre Haute, Indiana. I hate going out there but was obliged for family business so we rented a car and made the 10 hour drive(620 miles). My wife actually looking for something to do out there other then do the normal sight seeing(a ton of stuff in town is named after my family but is pretty boring) looked up some things. This is my second post. My first was about lighting. My current set up is a 55g fish only tank right now(due to lack of necessary lighting), and I have a CPR hang on the back refugium/skimmer which is 4.7gallons. Nitrates are <1ppm with this set up and I am pretty happy. As far as the lighting goes, I think I am gonna go with T5's. My specific question is will an 8x54watt fixture be too much for my tank? I just want to be able to keep sps and lps. I will try to post pics soon.
