  1. Tank Update

Wow, I didn't realize how long it has been since I posted a blog entry update until I just now went back and looked at my last entry. On my last blog entry, I was posting some pcitures of some coral frags that I had recently gotten. Unfortunatly, they are no longer with us, bless their souls. Since my last blog entry, I had a tank crash that wiped out my whole tank except for my fish. i will try to blog about the experience soon, what led up to it, what I did to try and correct it, and the eventual ...

  2. Lobophyllia changes shape.

I've been watching my lobo change shape before my eyes over the past month. I've had this lobo for over a year, and it has always looked like half a tennis ball, shape-wise. Lately it has been flattening out for no reason that I can think of. And the top of it has begun to show traces of bleaching, just slightly. Since it is in the front left corner of the tank, I placed my hand over it to see if I could create shade, which I could. So I grabbed a piece of scrap acrylic, peeled off the film from ...

    Watch in HD!

My Sumpless 40Br Mixed Reef Tank. Set up since August 2012 (Moved from SC), most corals have been with me for about a year prior to the move.

  4. Unexpected issue with my frag tank

The frag tank holds roughly 10g of saltwater, and the corals in there are growing bigger fighting for space. I've considered building a new one to replace this one once the 400g gets here. I don't know the date unfortunately.

Yesterday as I was looking at the tank, I noticed that one end was floating - which it never does. The first thing I did was put some shims under the end to support the corners of the tank.

  5. Colt Coral Spawning

So I'm writing this at 2:28 EST in an effort to:

Try my best to document the spawning of my leather coral. I've seen hard coral spawn, gorgonians, but have yet to see a leather tree coral spawn. I will update this on Sunday evening with pictures, but for the moment, this is so I don't leave out details I would otherwise forget.

Spawn noticed at approx. 2:09 am EST. All flow turned off immediately to determine source.

Small white dots. Gametes? Eggs? < or ...
