Propagation - fish & corals

Propagation techniques and results

  1. Clown eggs!

I have had my perc and ocellaris clowns together for about 3 years now and they've nearly always stayed around each other but never acted like a mated pair. Well, I just looked between the two rose anemones that they live in and there is a clutch of eggs stuck to a rock. Would it be worth it to get my extra 10 gal tank out, add the little filter and throw the rock in there? I know the dietary requirements are tough for the fry but I think I can keep up with their needs with my awesome local club ...
  2. Have you heard of the LIghtning Maroon clownfish?

If you haven't, it's one amazing looking clown from Papua New Guinea. A friend of mine received one last year, because he's a fish breeder. As you can imagine, he's been barraged with queries regarding mating and possibly viable egg clutches ever since. Matt's a busy guy, but he went out of his way to assure that this fish was well cared for every time Murphy threw something its way.

The next milestone was reached at last. Read his latest entry here: http://www.lightning-maroon-clownfish.com/?p=1117 ...
  3. May 10th: Mithrax crabs eating my Zoas

You might recall that on Feb 13th I caught my Mithrax crabs eating my Green Star Polyps. Well, in May I noticed my Zoa seemed to be missing some polyps... but I wasn't sure, so I started to take pictures. It didn't take much to confirm.... on May 10th I noticed though the pictures that a few polyps were really missing.... and coincidently I found one polyp loose on the substrate.

Must have been a polyp the crab cut loose but wasn't able to hold.

So, I decided to take ...
  4. Nuclear Fusion

Here are some photos of some Nuclear green polyps that I've been trying to "morph" with a purple death polyp, My Initial experiences were featured in an article in Reef Hobbyist along with some early photos.
I've been experimenting with this for well over a year going on 2 years, and have since added some other Paly morphs into the mix, and they have added to the beauty, They have taken on various amounts of purple, from half split, to streaks. They also have acquired a turquoise ...
  5. dendro

Ok, so we've had this dendro for about a year. We LOVE him! He is sticky, always hungry, and always open. I've been considering fragging him because friends would love a head or two, it'd be easier to feed, and the poor guy is in a small tank. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had thoughts, comments, opinions, or tips towards fragging him. All input is very welcome!
