  1. Newest Full Tank Shot

New full tank shot, taken tonight 8/14/10. It's finally coming together!
    Front.

This is the side that's viewable from the entry and kitchen. I know the cords look sloppy, but keep in mind we still have no canopy. Temporary lights = temporary cords. lol

  2. Ever have a fish die for no reason?

For the last two days I've been sick and my normal standing in front of the tank for hours has been reduced. I just fed the tank, cleaned the glass and went back to the couch. Today I was feeling better and spent some time after feeding and I noticed my Royal Gramma didn't eat, come to think of it I hadn't see him the last two days. So I started looking and found him dead under a rock, as soon as I moved the rock he floated to the surface. I've had him two years and the previous owner had had ...
  3. Stage Two - Complete

In Stage One, I discussed ordering the new tank: http://www.reefaddicts.com/entry.php...18#comment5018

Stage Two is ordering the stand. It took a while to get the welder over, but he and I discussed the entire plan and he's going to get back to me with a quote. I'm buying it for sure, I just hope I can afford it. The stand is welded powder coated steel, and I've asked him to incorporate a method to set up a temporary walkboard for the front or the back, ...

  4. Water change system 90% complete!

by , 08-12-2010 at 08:09 AM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
I just finished placing my order for the second to last piece of our automatic water change system; a HDPE Heavy Duty Horizontal Leg tank. Last purchases are actual plumbing parts, but I've learned my lesson about pre-ordering before I've figured out 100% what I'm trying to accomplish.

I have to say though the 55g garbage containers we've been using since 2004/2005 have done us very well. I want to re-purpose them but can't figure out how. I may just offer them up for sale at a really ...

  5. which pump?

Just picked up my new 80g tank. Never had to use a sump before so I was wondering what my max gph should be? Im going with an Eheim so would it be better to go with a 1250 (317gph) or do a 1260 (635gph) with a ball valve in between?

Ive heard that you want a lower gph for your return to let the skimmer work right? The tank will have mostly LPS and fish.
