  1. Need to make new sump/skimmer fit!

So I decided to reward myself for (finally) getting my BBA by building me a reef tank. I had a tank for several years but due to frequent moves I had to take it down. I had purchased a 75 gal tank a while back, but it has sat in a back room for to long! I have been reading and searching for the best way to set up my tank for a while now and thought I had it figured out. I started building my stand with a plan, but I recently found a deal on a Lifereef LF1-150 that I couldn’t say no to.

  2. DIY - Carbon Filtering Skimmer Lid LOTS OF PICS

Hello everyone, hope you've all had a happy new year !

I as I'm sure many others do have my tank setup in my bedroom, and sometimes the smell of the rotting goo in the protein skimmer collection cup creates quite a funk that has been getting quite noticeable in my room

This clearly needed fixing, and after a bit of research I happened upon a few prebuilt skimmer lids with carbon chambers to filter the air and absorb the smell from the skimmate. But I couldn't ...

  4. New to Me, Used Sump Dilemma

I recently purchased a used sump from an individual here locally. I needed a sump with smaller dimensions to fit below my 29 tall tank. (20 x 8 x 16) The previous owner liked this sump and swore it works great as is, however after mulling it over all night, I am begining to have reservations. As you can see in the included pics there are no chambers to the sump, just a sock holder and one giant area. He had the bottom filled with bio balls and the return pump attached externally. Everything I have ...

  5. Sump chatter

Everyone has been asking me about the new sump, and what its layout will be. I'm still thinking about my options, and nothing is set in stone.

I really like the idea of a tunnel for some reason. If I can pull that off, so be it.

If 1" of water drains from the display tank, that equals 13g of water. Plus whatever is in the plumbing. The sump needs to be able to hold any drainage when the power goes out.

The footprint inside the stand is 81" x 32", ...
