    So I hooked up my dual Durso standpipes and I didn't like the results at all. So I looked around for ideas on making the overflow quiet and I came across the "Bean Animal" Silent and Safe Overflow method on Reef Central. I was actually very happy with the results and I created the following video with the test results.

  2. Water Testing!

    Hey guys,

    As promised in my most recent post, I am posting some videos of the water test I did today. I have to go to a meeting in a few minutes and my YouTube videos are uploading as we speak so I will add the very first one for now. In all there are four parts about 3 minutes long per piece.   3. Leveling a tank?

    Hey guys,

    I have a picture to show all of you. The kind that an owner gets excited over. Water in the tank!! Here's my tank filled as high as I can currently fill it (the plumbing and overflow box aren't totally finished yet):

  4. Overflow questions!

    I have a few questions pertaining to overflow mechanics. Ive decided on a 45g cube with an external overflow, however, I'm uncertain of what's best.

    1. Do Durso overflows rely on siphon? I'd like to avoid any kind of suction and go with something that "drains" based off of the return pump's output.

    2. I see lots of 6 drain-line complex plumbing mumbo jumbo setups around. Is this necessary? I was planning on just having a 500gph dual 1" overflow setup ...
