Help with lighting

Rate this Entry
Hey all I need some opinions. I just replaced my coralife 150W 10,000K bulb with an XM 150 W 15,000K bulb. Now, it looks good with my 2 supplemental 65W actinic power compact bulbs, but it is VERY blue overall. I now need to replace the 65 watters and want to know opinions as to what to use. 2 10,000K bulbs? 1 10K bulb and 1 actinic? I want to put some brightness into the tank without slacking off on the actinic.

Ideas??? Thanks!!!!!

If you are looking for less blue.... maybe get rid of the PC's and get a couple of 54w T-5's. I would use the ATI Aquablue Special bulbs. They are around 12000K, but aren't very blue. You will get lots of Par with these guys as well. If you must keep the PC's.. then go with a 50/50 bulb to cut the blue light in half!

Personally, I like an XM 10k with a actinic to supplement. FWIW, the 15k WM has a very weak PAR output, even less than the 20k. The 10k is a literal PAR monster. Phoenix 14k's may be more to your liking though.

I would go with the 2 10k in the PC. that will compliment the XM 15k very nicely. How deep is your tank?
