Ok everyone just starting the build but I just got the most important part today.

150g (60 x 24 x 25)

now the new skimmer

Ok so its been a week or so since I updated this thread, so here are some updated pics.

I am building my stand out of 1.5" steel tubing with a wall thickness of 3/16. The stand is not completely welded
yet, it is just tack welded. Will finish all the welding and cleaning up the welds tomorrow.

Here is the material

Top and Bottom of the stand

Have added the legs

and just some additional pics of the tack welding

After the welding and cleanup, I intend to prime the frame and coat it. I am not
quite sure what I am going to coat the stand with but I am leaning towards
herculiner.

Ok well the gusset plates have been added and also added some tabs to us to anchor the wood facade

tomorrow I will try to finish grinding down the welds and get it primed.

Well one step closer to getting this thing ready for wood. The steel frame has now been primed and is ready
for the Hurculiner. I will start applying this tomorrow after work.

Well I was not going to let all the rain we got this weekend stop me from working on the stand.
The steel frame has now got a really nice coat if truck bedliner on it and is now ready for the wood facade.

While I was waiting for the steel frame to dry, I started on my sump.

I could not let this weekend end without getting some wood (Birch) on the steel frame.

Even though I did not spend a lot of time not working on my stand today I got a lot done.
Here are some updated pics of the stand and canopy with the doors added and the canopy lid. I still need to add some
trim to the canopy lid and to the stand. If all goes as planned I should be ready to put some stain on it by the first of the
    week.

This weekend was very productive on the tank build. Here are some more pictures. Now its time for the sanding and staining.
This is how much room I will have to work under the tank and in canopy because all the will come completely off.

And now some shots of the whole thing

ok its been awhile since I updated this thread, I have been on travel several time but have made some very good progress on the build. Here is the stand base with the stain applied with no clear coat over it yet.Got the stain applied to everything, it all still need the polyurethane applied.Well got the polyurethane applied and decided it was time to start the leak testing.Well after it was filled and running I started getting a flushing effect in my overflow so I had to rework my drain plumbing. I removed the hard pvc and went with a union and flex pvc.

On to the canopy, the lights, fans and lid hinges have been installed. So right now I only have to finish up the magnets on the doors, and update my RKL and It will be ready to move in the house.

Ok so its been awhile since I have updated this so here goes.
The tank is in the house and running. I still have to do a few things but they can all be done while it is running. Once the water clears up will add more sand if needed and rearrange the rocks.
For some reason the stand looks blotchy in the pics but its not in person.

Ok so we spent a few hours last night trying to figure out the aquascaping and this is what we ended up with.
The cycle is over and should start putting in the livestock tonight. What you think.

As of right now this is the fish stock list:
    Male/Female African Leopard Wrasse pair
    Female Flame Wrasse
    Male Exquisite Wrasse
    Male Pink Margin Wrasse
    Yellow coris wrasse
    Male/Female Ocellaris/Percula clown pair
    Black Sailfin Blenny
    Starry Blenny
    Flame Hawk

Ok here are some pics of the tank as of right now. I have added a few more pieces of rock but the aquascape is still pretty simple.

Ok I decided to replace the T5's on this build with leds. I am now running (3) 120W led panels over this tank.
I had to modify the canopy to hold the leds
    Bracket to hold led rack

Leds in place ( I will paint the rack and brackets for corossion prevention)

Led full tank shot (cell phone pic)

Looks great! What kind of LED fixtures are they?
  10. bbandu's Avatar
    I bought them from a local club member, they are 120W panels and the color combination is 119 - 1w leds divided up into 35 - 16000K, 28 - 14000K, 28 453nm blue and 28, 468nm blue.
