Need some input on my skimmer

Well i got my skimmer in and I will octopus skimmer seems well built, it is a hurricone cat2e. The paper work that comes with the skimmer is extremely poor doesnt give you common application for install, gph feed rates. Well anyhow my question is about the output at 10in doesnt give much leeway for install and at 27in high i cant really put it on a stand. Can this output be raised with out messing up the operation of the skimmer. I havent build my sump or the plumbing done so i can make thing however they need to be still but that output threw a monkey wrench in the way i hoped to do things.

each side is 32 wide 24 deep and 29.5 to the 2x4 and 33 to the decking

I wanted to build the sump to the size of one side and run it as deep as possible for volume as with the skimmer being ext wouldnt need to have anything in it really my fuge will be to the right of the tank here

not finished yet but was going to turn that 55 i busted on its side and get a piece of glass cut so it would be 12 deep 48 long and 21 wide and return it by gravity to the main tank.

    I have found that if the water level in my sump raises above the recommended operating height it floods the skimmer cup. I just built a stand under mine to keep it at the correct level but if you can't then the level needs to be the 8-10" they recommend.

    You may be able to adjust the output plumbing slightly, trying to run it 1" higher than it is currently. See how that works for you. I know you said you can't put it on a stand due to clearance above the cup, but how much space do you actually have?

    i might just put it the sump and make the sump shorter if i make it 15 or 16 high i think i can get it in but have to take it apart and get it in and out just kills the idea of not having to drill my penducters or run check valves. at 24ins it would have held all the water in a power outage. Wishing i would have got the sss 6000 now.

    Ah. First off, don't drill the penductors. I did and as i was told, it's an issue now. A check valve is the way to go, if you can come up with a good system.

    I always recommend a sump that is 16" tall. Anything taller is tough to work in, and difficult to install or remove equipment.

    I am a bit confused on why you want to run an external skimmer In your sump? The askoll 1500 pump draws 70 watts which may not seem like it will add heat, but every degree matters if you're running halides or don't have a chiller. You have posted before about how you are building a fish room, so I'm wondering why you wouldn't put the sump/skimmer/etc there instead of under the stand? Or possibly you could build a small cabinet next to the tank almost like an endtable to hide the external skimmer?
