Pregnant Banded Coral Shrimp

Rating: 2 votes, 5.00 average.
Evidence suggests that my Banded Coral Shrimp seem to be enjoying themselves.

She's got a lot of eggs on her underside.

congrats! my understanding is that is a relatively hard thing to accomplish. Do you plan on attempting to raise the young in a separate tank and selling them? those guys always sell!

no, no real plans to help raise the young. I do not have the space currently to get something setup for the babies. I think most will become fish/coral food.

That must be really exciting! Whenever I do have the space I'd love to get into breeding as many things as possible. You're lucky too, my CBS never ever comes out of his cave. I thought it died after I got it.

For anyone who has an unquenchable need to know what has happened to all the baby banded coral shrimp you are in luck. Well, some got eaten right away, but many have survived to this day.

There are at least a dozen, if not more, in my overflow buzzing around and up and down the rocks I put in there.

To my surprise I have seen several still alive in the display tank. They seem to inhabit small nooks and crannies and seem to always be scurrying around in their small dens. They are easy to spot with a flash light as their eyes are reflective.

I have spotted several moving around in the refugium as well. I think the refugium is their best bet for survival. It will be interesting to see how long they take to grow.

On a related note, the adult shrimp are expecting once again!
