I am a newb!

Hi, just joined this cult, oops, I mean community. I am very excited and interested in setting up my first saltwater tank. I have been just reading and reading for the last two weeks; it has become an obsession and I don't even have a tank yet! The information is almost overwhelming at times... the more I read, the more questions I have. I have to say though, that the site http://www.melevsreef.com had the absolute most inspiring information and tips I have yet to find. And it is what led me here to "Reef Addicts"... Two weeks ago, I was planning on creating a freshwater tank; I had set them up in the past when I was much younger and had a side business "back in the day" cleaning them for folks and businesses. I haven't touched a fish tank for a long time. But, then the question came up about saltwater vs. freshwater. Everyone I talked to kept telling me "oh, it's soooo hard to do, it's sooo complex, blah blah blah"...

But, to me, that is the part that excites me. I love science and biology and always have. I didn't even know what a sump was until two weeks ago. Once I started reading on the subject, I couldn't stop! I had to know more! When I stumbled across melvsreef.com, it was all it took. I built a tatoo gun from an old record player and a toy trainset when I was 16, and after reading the articles on melevsreef, I told myself... "I have to build a sump". There is just so much to know about sumps; it's awesome. It's a challenge. Yeah, I could do a freshwater tank with some sword tails, and some guppies and a suckerfish or two, maybe some redtail sharks for the scavenger crew... OR, I could open the door and go for it. Urchins, crabs, shrimp, eels, tangs, lungfish, basically having to design and create an entire eco system. Having to know every little detail about the chemistry, the sea life, etc... Good stuff.

I've made my choice and at this point, I'm not even near ready to buy a single thing yet. I am still researching this very intreguing subject; my wife thinks I"ve gone mad.

In summary,

I just want to say hello to the community and I'll be coming here posting my progress and asking questions as they arise.

Now... If I could only find a FBGF... for a week or two...

I can't believe you're hitting on the newbie, Jessy. That didn't take long at all.
