The tank is on the stand

Rate this Entry
Yesterday I got some friends together to lift the tank on to the stand. The estimated weight of the tank is 450lbs and not an easy lift for sure. To make it even more difficult we had to put the tank up at an angle in order to clear the garage door rail.

First I dragged the pallet and tank out of the garage with the golf cart and spun the tank around and let the edges hang off so we could grab it.

i wasn't able to take pictures while lifting so just imagine six sweaty guys heev hoing the tank to here:

Here's where we added the sand, that is 360lbs. of Tropic Eden Reef Flake

Then we re leveled it and installed the water proof barrier that should have been installed already

Here is the tank from the other side, lots of work left to do

Sorry for the grainy indoor pictures, I didn't turn on the flash on the iPhone.

YES! I am getting excited for you I can't wait to see what happens next I have turned my attention away from watching Hatfields and McCoys to now watching your tank progression on the edge of my seat and throwing out pictures of beer with the tank just makes me thirsty, lol. so what is your timeline for completion? are you just waiting on the sump to hook up the plumbing and get the cycle started or do you still have lots of equipment needed?

The sump is being built by Marc and he said it should ship today or Monday. I have the stuff ordered for most of the plumbing and the light rack. I still have to figure out how I want to hang the rack. I have to get my AC guys to move the mister slim unit from the old house to this house as the ambient temp in the garage is nearing 85 daily. My temp tank is getting up to 83.5 f daily when it should be staying at 79.1.

I have 200 gallons of water cooking in the poly and when that has settled down I will throw that in the 300g so I can make another batch. i guess I should be able to get away with just having a Vortech on the 300g to keep the water from getting stale.

The sad news is that my wife (teacher) is not set up for a 12month pay cycle so we are going to have to pinch pennies over the summer til she goes back to work. This is her first year back to work after having the kids and she didn't realize she had to set up the 12month thing through the bank in NC now. They do not offer the 12month pay here anymore. However since I already have most everthing the tank should not be affected, just adding new additions will be affected.

Blake, I ordered mine awhile back, they have a crazy turn around on them so it is best to order yours now and that way you will get yours as soon as they come in. The guys at Premium Aquatics are awesome.

Looks fantastic. I can assure you that tank is twice as heavy as your estimate. Mine weighed in at 1158lbs on the pallet.

Will you have access to use the walkboard from the front?

No, I plan to just use small step ladder

What about some nifty thing that fits on the wall but flips up or folds down to give you a walkboard? I've used the step ladder occasionally, but I L.O.V.E my walkboard for anything more than feeding.

A while back I had given it some thought into two access holes for it. But, I really just want a nice clean trimmed out appearance.

Awesome... I can only dream of an in wall tank... When I came home with the 265 gal tank my husband said I could keep it only under one condition ... that when we sell the house the tank stays with the house... I agreed of course only because the next house will have the space for an in wall build LOL
