Pictures from today

I took some pictures today to share with you. Then this evening, I decided to get wet and work on my tank. A few corals have been moved, as many Majanos as I could find were nuked, and some algae was pruned out. In the process, some SPS were broken, removed, or relocated. As you probably understand, I won't know for a few days if I like the changes but it needed doing. There are no pictures of the changes yet because I worked until I was down to LED Moonlighting for the last few adjustments.

Here's the Orange Blob. The spot that was RTNing away stopped a few days ago and seems to be staying the same. It's tough to cut that away because of where it is located, but I may still trying to snap it out of there.

This is an Acropora abrolhensis - a staghorn coral that I grew from a frag that I got from Paul Whitby in Oklahoma. It was one of the corals I had to move today, and some parts had to be cut out and thrown out because of Majanos, the damage their stings caused, and resulting nuisance algae. I hated to address that area, but it wasn't ever going to get better on its own.

This patch of corals is one I look at often. I like the various colors, but know that it won't stay like that forever. After a while, one of them will surely give way to the others.

Here's a close up of that front coral. It is a Tricolor Acropora that was being consumed by AEFW months ago. The base is dead, but all those new tips are growing and full of color!

This is some orange Montipora digitata. It doesn't grow fast in my tank, but it adds a little diversity. That aiptasia got zapped tonight.

Check out the next two pictures. Focus on the area where the corals are growing on the overflow. The first picture is January 31, 2010

And today, the two corals have spread out to where they are almost touching. The upper coral is a pink lemonade Acoropora, and the bottom coral is Pavona.

Here is the Pink Hammer that I was pretty sure wouldn't survive after the recent spawning event. The polyps are fluffy and extended.

The A. plana looks pale from this angle, but the polyps are out. That Chromis makes the shot.

And finally, here's my famous Tyree tricolor (A. valida) This coral has been through multiple AEFW attacks over the years, including only a few months ago. It is coloring up nicely once again.

Look at them happy polyps!

In the next day or so, I'll have to see how the reef looks and I'm sure I'll post some pictures of my reef's slightly altered look.
