PH probes

Question? When ph probes start losing their calibration, which way do they shift the readings to? Do they read higher or lower? Maybe they are all different?

Can't you just recalibrate it or is it beyond calibration?

They go all over the place - up or down. When you calibrate them, if they don't re-measure correctly test after test, they need to be replaced. I clean and rinse the probe, then put it in the first solution (7.0) and set it. Then I rinse in RO/DI water for a few section, then put it in the 10.0 solution. Rinse and then retest the 7, rinse then retest the 10. If it reads correctly after a couple of those runs, put it in the tank and see if the numbers are close to where you would expect them to be. If they read way off what we consider safe (lower than 7.6 or higher than 8.4), the probe may be bad.
