New ATI powermodule

Rate this Entry
Well I finally took the plunge to get a T5 fixture. Ive been contemplating changing from my 3 400 watt MHs to a 8x80 Power module for about a year. I like the ability to change the bulbs and get a different color temp in the tank. Also my tank has been running hotter then I like lately. Marc doesn't like T5 lighting so he will be the big test next time he comes down.

I don't have to like it over YOUR tank. I just don't like it over mine.

That being said, it's a beautiful fixture and I'm thinking you'll love the look. Thanks for plugging it in for us to see how it looks. Only one white bulb, eh?

I see four dark blues, two light blues, one white and one purple. You're color blind.

I have a 10 bulb powermodule and I love it. I have found that I actually like it with no white bulbs. I have had great growth with all of my sps. The whites in it just seem to wash out alot of the blue. I am running a 10k ice cap bulb and a couple of aqua blue specials to give it the white look. As far as heat goes the fixture still puts off a decent amount of heat. The fans help but it still heats up the tank. I have also found that I have to hang the fixture about 9" above the water to get the par values I like. I do t know how deep your tank is but mine is 20" and at the top of my rocks I get about 600 par. The top of my rocks are about 7-8" under the water surface. Just something to keep in mind.

What is a good alternative to using T5 for a 55 gallon reef?
