Just a Gripe

Rate this Entry
Random gripe... Any type of Reef Putty stinks, and unfortunately there are times with Superglue doesn't cut it. Just a well place frag, with plenty of putty crammed into the crevices.. become dislodged. While putty really does harden, it doesn't adhere to anything.

I've always done a mix of putty and super glue. It gets all over your fingers but before you shove the putty down, squeeze a blog of super glue on it then use the frag plug to shove glue and putty into the crevice.

Agreed. I put super glue gel on the epoxy, stick the frag in, put more glue on the bottom, and then press firmly into the rock. Works pretty much every time. It's still able to be removed for relocation of you need it too.

I'll definitely have to give that a try!

I like using the Deltec / D&D putty. It's pink like coralline, and stays sticky for a while. It also won't turn to stone in mere minutes. I've had good luck with it in my reef when placing new corals.
