My ATO resovior - How to make the wife happy

Rate this Entry
My wife did not like a big tub sitting by the reef tank, making it quite unsightly. So here are a few pics of my top off reservoir holding. It is a wicker type basket with a Rubbermaid type container with a lockable lid on it. Holds about 10g. Being in the basket keeps light out, so no algae growth, and the lockable lid keeps out dust/particles/animal hair, etc. No need to have to clean the reservoir. I drilled a hole in the top for the airline to go down into the water, and then drilled a hole in a PCV piece for the airline end to stick into, just to weight it down to the bottom of the reservoir. Wife is much happier with the finished look.

Nifty little trick of hiding the ATO tube, I like it.

Very nice and clean looking! You've given me an idea for the ATO I'm about to do. Thanks! ;-)

Nice! Who says you have to hide everything in the stand.
I notice it also hides your CO2 bottle, two birds with one stone.

Hell the whole reactor is behind there!

Fits perfect! I need to do something like this for my electrical stuff somehow... I hate having my ballast in the stand but it looks tacky everywhere else.

Nice! Where did you buy the basket and container? You inspired me to do the same, and I'm having a hard time finding a basket and container that are close in size and have a lid on the basket.

The container I bought at Target I think. I think it was some sort of huge dry dog food container. The basket I bought at Garden Ridge. I am not sure if that is a chain or not. It is a home and garden type store.
