300 gallons of blog!

Groundwork

First post here, but some of you may recognize this from the interwebs elsewhere. I have a 300 gallon tank sitting in my garage that hopes to be filled in the near future.

To make a long story short, we had a house built and I sold my 150 gallon setup. In the new house, which has a 4 bay garage (three wide, middle one is a tandem), I decided to close up part of the tandem for a fish room to look something like this.

When the house was being built, I had them leave an 8'x3' hole in the shared wall between the kitchen and garage. This picture looks into the garage.

When we moved in, the garage looked like this.

Last week I removed the sheetrock from the garage side of the wall (to be surprised by some rogue studs), and now that same wall looks like this.

Anyways, I wanted to share with some of the folks on this site the details of the build. More to come!

Very interesting, looks like this will be a great build.

Your rogue studs are kinda interesting but I am guessing that they were put in to secure the sheetrock to rather than to let them flap in the breeze.

Thanks everyone. Regarding those two studs, as far as I can tell they're not even nailed into the structure, only attached to the sheetrock. I'll obviously damage the finished side of the sheetrock when I remove it, but that should actually be a warrantied fix as it's on the contract with the builder that the space there would be completely empty. We'll see how that plays out.

Looks good so far, can't wait to see how it progresses. Those Marineland tanks sure are getting around, and for good reason.
