With the reef tank torn down, my routines are a little out of sync. I don't have to worry about cleaning the glass nor much of anything else, it seems. Still, I check on my livestock and view them from above, and make sure all the equipment is running.

The calcium reactor seemingly sprung a leak, but after a careful disassembly, no crack was found. I applied more teflon tape to the threaded area, and have it running again. I'll have to keep an eye on it and see if it happens again.

Every day, I clean the filter sock connected in Trough #2. It's surprising what it catches, but I'm using it to reduce the bubbles in the LPS vat for the most part.

The LR in the trashcan that held the Toadstool Leather is still measuring ammonia, but as soon as it is back to 0, I'm going to combine that rock with the rest of the rock in the 55g barrel. Btw, Drew contacted me last night and said he thought the Leather will probably be okay.

Whenever I look in the SPS vat with the floater, Spock is right there completely in my way. She's funny. I'm feeding nori daily to that trough with a feeding clip, held in place with the same magnet system I used on the display tank.

55g of saltwater was mixed up today in preparation for a water change. I used Ocean Pure salt, since I've got three cases of it in the garage. A box mixes up 200g, supposedly. However, when I poured one of the four bags into my 55g barrel, it wasn't nearly salty enough, so I'm thinking a box really makes 150g of water, tops.

The Red Sea C-skim 1200's pump burned up last week. A replacement pump (on Marine Depot) is $129. I'll hold off on that one for now. Speaking of pumps, I've got a line on a backup for my Dart pumps. A club member posted up one for sale that was brand new, so I'm hoping he'll contact me with the affirmative that it's mine.

    Me too! TheToadstool was probably just pissed from getting moved from it's home. I read the artical last night on the disasembly, wow! That gif Jessy made was cool.

    Marc, have you ever used Ocean Pure salt before ? I have. I'm not a big fan of that brand (made in China). Monitor your reef closely.

    Good luck Marc! Man you have a project ahead of you. I guess though it can be seen as a new beginning, only with very well established colonies. Admit it, you are looking forward to the new build.

    agsansoo - years ago, I knew a lot of people were swearing by that salt. I bought a few cases and they have sat ever since.

    I recently burned through all my Red Sea salt. I would have continued to use the same as I have two more buckets, but they for some reason have turned to stone. Brand new, never opened. I asked my LFS owner if he can help me get those swapped out, and a month later I'm still trying to get that sorted out unfortunately. It wasn't a high pressure situation when I first asked, but with the tank leak, all of that has changed. I need some results now.

    I still have two or three buckets of Kent salt (the bad batch that contains no alkalinity), or the three cases of Ocean Pure. I figured the OP would be safer than having to mix up my own recipe to make the Kent salt usable. However, I'll be testing it just to be safe before I use it.

    Marc, when do you think you will be putting it back together? did you get a new tank on order? are you going to get another glass tank?

    -Steven btw my 240 with 90gallon sump (inspired by your setup) is up and running 4 months now and hopefully will last longer than yours did. I am scared to death now.

    My deepest sympathy for your lose ....... i think i started to sweat when i read what you had to go through, "that stinks"... keep your head up and things will work out. stay up beat.

    Steven - you don't need to be scared, just aware. I've been watching those seams for years. There are tanks out there that will last 15 years, while others give way in less than a year. It comes down to quality and craftsmanship, and a little luck no doubt. Here's where I started discussing my plans: http://www.reefaddicts.com/entry.php...ges-%28400g%29

    Deep Blue - thanks. it's going to be okay, although I would like a completion date to look forward to. Currently I don't have one yet, as I'm still waiting to hear back from the manufacturer.
