:D New tank additions!

Rate this Entry
Its been a while since I've last updated, but heres a rundown of my tank. I also have a question regarding bristleworms :P

New additions:
-Camel Shrimp: By far the most active shrimp ive ever seen! Definitely a good shrimp for the 7 dollars I payed

-Pencil Sea Urchin: Hes about the size of a bouncy ball, and very beautifully colored. I'll post some pictures tomorrow

-Long Tentacled Anemone: HUGE! Posting a picture

-x2 Black Edged True Percula Clownfish: Posting picture

I also picked up a Seaclone protein skimmer, and despite the iffy reviews, it actually works beautifully, no leaks and collects a dark green sludge fairly quickly. A really nice and inexpensive skimmer for a smaller tank.

Now the question: I have a growing populace of bristle worms, and am debating on leaving them alone or attempting to "remove" them. Any suggestions? They dont seem to be eating anything other than algae, but im not sure if theyll move to bigger and more expensive things. And if I should remove them, how do I go about it on a tight budget?

I have never had a legitimate issue with a bristle worm. All of the ones I have ever had have basically chowed down on left over food. I think most people prefer to trap and remove the very large ones, just for good measure.

I was just about to ask the same thing! Are they hosting that anemone?

Ignore it altogether :/ Actually, they've ignored my BTA AND my LTA. And now theyre fighting, to the point where one is losing color and cowering in a corner. This week has been rough for my tank. I bought a six-lined wrasse, and my LTA captured and ate him within 4 hours. Im now going to have to give away one of my clowns to prevent another casualty. FML.

Hey Cavier, unfortunately in this hobby things like this happen. I read ya other post about this too. Don't let it get ya down. There are way more good times then bad ones in the hobby, that's for sure. :-)

I recently had two Chromis' fighting all the time and one would always hide. It's scary because the one hiding wouldn't get any food because of the other. They both get along now, lucky for me.

When I first got into this hobby many years ago I had a LTA and he ate a few of my fish. I brought his butt back to the LFS. Not saying that's what you should do though. That worked for me.

In this hobby you learn as you go. You learn what livestock works for you. What makes you happy. Your clowns may be buddies again today, ya just never know. :-)

    Thank you Hat
I found Cpt Nemo's ex boyfriend a good home, and also walked away with a frag of Zoanthids, so I'm somewhat happy with the situation.
Also, when I turned my actinic lighting on, I noticed my clown did some house shopping. He's now going back and forth between playing in my BTA, and my LTA. Man, it's crazy how quickly things change in a tank.

Yeah it can change fast. I'm glad everything turned out good. You have to put up a pic of the new Zoas. ;-)
