Hey Mike, welcome to the site! Lol, yeah we like lots of pics. I recently upgraded to a 75g tank and I have a quiet one 3000 I believe, works great.

A dry run means pushing it together like legos, WITHOUT water. You don't want that stuff shooting apart after all. Assemble it using PVC primer and glue, let it cure for a couple of hours, soak it in freshwater in your tub or rinse it out with a garden hose, then install it and fire it up.

O K that sounds easy enough, I also wanted to try a dry run to see if every thing fit then glue, then will soak all pipe in salt water like i saw on this site.

For a 65g, I would use a Mag 5 with 1" plumbing. The pump will have a 1/2" fitting. You will install a 1/2" to 1" reducer, then a 1" union, then 1" plumbing up the back of the tank, up and over the top and into the reef.

Do not forget to drill anti-siphon holes in the return line - 1/2" beneath the normal water's surface.

tank size 65 gal, sump is rated up to 125 gal,(went a little bigger in case I get a 90 gal later), there will be a overflow box, I was told to use a mag 5. also told to use a rio .also will be getting a skimmer in a few weeks.

Do you plan to use a HOB (hang on back) overflow box to drain to a sump, or are you getting your tank drilled? The pump needs to match the overflow's drain rate, and the plumbing going back up needs to match the return pump's requirements.
