I notice VETERAN Reefers who have paid their dues and suffering from one arm now noticeably longer than the other use less live rock and put it NO WHERE near the glass, smart move ....

Marc, what would you say is the trend or formula for minimum pounds of LR per water volume to be an effective bio filter? I've thought of taking more out of display and if I have to make it a "first stage to sump" container ....

How about a sump pic? I would like to see that beast in action. How many lbs of LR is in the tank? The tank is so big that it looks there isn't enough.LOL So it will be another month or two before anything goes init correct?

Looks great! I like the open aquascape. How long are you leaving the starphire stickers on there?

Marc, are you using 2 new Darts on the 400?
if not, do you have your old system plumbed into your 400gal new tank?

i see you have the skimmer and reactors in the 400, does that mean your not running anything on the Temp setup? or do you plan on moving everything over within days so the time without skimmer and such wont matter?
(unless all of this is part of the story or podcast later??)

Whenever bristleworms got too big for the display (just looked big to me at 5+ inches), they are relegated to the refugium. I usually add a few snails in that zone to keep things clean. This time my refugium is going to be a show refugium again since it faces the living room, so I'll be keeping it clean compared to the last one that was hidden in the back of my sump against the wall deep under the 280g. It's been 6 years & 7 months since I could see a refugium and I missed that.

I talked with a friend in Utah about doing the woodwork for me since I knew it would be done quickly.

    LOL. True enough!

So, are you going to do the woodwork now, or wait six years?

Okay, I've caught up from last few months. Getting exciting now... Don't forget to take the bunny rabbit out of the tank before filling Question, what is your plans/purpose regarding content for the refuge? I have quite a few bristle worms in mine and a clean-up crew farmer on (Youtube) says, their a GOOD thing for the sand bed, not sure how that helps my main display? I know their there as well. Any benefit to have the calcium reactor effluent drip straight to refugium? Thinking effluent is heavy on co2 straight out of reactor and good for the plants?

Thanks for answering all my questions. I love the look of the project all new and clean all things seem posable at this stage. Mike

Yeah, I knew I was absent but felt I needed to get this stuff done instead of sitting at my computer.

Canyousee - I'll have to add a few more pictures of how it works. There's a tall piece of 3/16" rigid tubing inside the reservoir, and an Aqualifter pump is connected to it. It draws up the water and then pumps it out flexible tubing into the sump. A float switch in the sump activates that pump as needed to replenish evaporated water.

Robb - don't you think this project has dragged out long enough as it is? Plus who wants to pay $200 for an ATO container? hehe It isn't like I just knocked it out with 1/4" material in 20 minutes. It's a beast. It should last a good long time.

I'm using Oatey's multi PVC cement, made for ABS, PVC, Spaflex, etc. It's got a red label on the can, and there's a picture of it in some of the images in these recent entries.
