Tank Entry

On January 5, 2013 I posted this picture of the Yellow Scroll coral. It wasn't doing well at all, but I saw plenty of DNA.

Here it is today, just shy of 11 months later.

Never give up on a coral until there's nothing left.

We've all been there. Your tank is on auto-pilot, you aren't making any new purchases, you see the same troublesome areas that need to be tended to but have little desire to actually get those cared for. Your patience is less than before, and what you want continues to be postponed by one thing or another. It's annoying, to say the least.

After 18 months, the 215g tank is finally gone. The tank, the stand, the canopy, the doors, the sump beneath... all of it is now in Mississippi, eight hours away. I posted the tank up for sale as soon as it was empty of livestock, and it sold in an hour. The owner knew it was a great deal, and a lot of local hobbyists bemoaned that sale because they wanted it as well. I just wanted it out of the fishroom because I needed the space.

Saturday and Sunday, I moved the livestock and rock from the temporary tank to the new ones. After mostly everything was cleaned up, the lights were out and I was quietly at my computer, I spotted the 60g aquarium looked cloudy from afar. Since the water was crystal clear, I was very surprised. With a flashlight, I quickly found that my anemones were spawning - releasing sperm into the water.
