  1. 400g update from Marineland

Got a little news from Marineland today. They disassembled the tank today. I'm guessing with what remains to be done (Rebuild, let cure, water test, crate and ship), it'll be about four weeks until the tank returns.

The 215g did great while I was at Comic Con. The tank sitter said he didn't have to adjust anything during the six days he watched over it, and the Apex never emailed/texted me with out-of-limit notifications. Texas has been hot-n-humid, but the tank never varied more ...

  2. The maintenance never ends, right?

The tank is really doing well lately, but that doesn't mean stop taking care of the mundane stuff. Tonight I hopped off the couch and scraped the inside of the sump clean of everything, siphoned it all out down the french drain, wiped down the skimmer body and cleaned the collection cup. While the two Dart pumps were off, the 5" strainers were soaked in vinegar & water, as well as the frag tank's Durso & perforated pipe. Sponges and other creatures were clogging the holes, and what I'm assuming ...

  3. In the blink of an eye...

I happen to glance over at my reef right as the Eheim autofeeder plunged into the tank. It was still in feeding mode, rotating as it sank to the bottom of the tank. These auto feeders aren't cheap, so I quickly pulled it out of the tank and started disassemble immediately.

I drained off all the water I could find within, and then doused it with Rubbing Alcohol since Jonathan always has suggested that for flooded electronics. Maybe the innards will recover from their drowned condition. ...

  4. Life! Pictures of some of my corals

First of all, everyone continues to ask me what is going on with the crated tank in my driveway. The trucking company and I finally made contact today, and they are going to show up tomorrow to take it to Indiana!

The past few days, I've been looking in the 215g at the livestock. As I told you, I lost most of my SPS corals, and had maybe 5 pieces hanging on. Three are birdsnest corals with skin hanging ...

  5. Saturday night... here's the latest

I received an email from Marineland on Friday that informed me the trucking company would contact me Monday for pickup. I hope they pick it up that same day, since it is 100% ready and road-worthy. I ended up putting a tarp over the crate as we had stormy weather Wednesday and Thursday, thanks to a suggestion by one person here on RA. It'll be nice to have that gone.

Working in the 215g isn't what I'd consider easy. There's not much space above the tank, and the huge cross brace ...
