chances are the condencer coil is copper, definitly a bad idea

i evap about 1gallon per day and the dehumidifier can completlly fill up 3.5gal this time of year, much more in the summer so i think it depends on the house

it also pulls anything attached to the moisture in the room as well as whatever is in the air, so any lysol, cologne, perfume, cleaner....ect ends up in that so just toss it out, heck all that humidity is probably from the tank to start with but still no i wouldn't reuse it

I recently started recirculating my skimmer air by pulling the air from the skimmer cup and feeding it to the recirculating pump air intake. It seems to be making a big difference in evaporation/humidity though I don't have any quantitative numbers. You may want to give it a try yourself if you have a similar setup...

wow is that a normal amount of evaporation?

What is the temperature at these times:

    9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, 12am, 3am

Do you have the canopy cracked open at all to let some heat out? Do you use cooling fans?

I've got 3 250 mhs and 2 actinic t5 hos . actinics are running 12 hrs and halides are running 8hrs. My lfs thinks my temp is swinging too much so we moved all the ballasts out from under the tank... hopefully that helps. Also the photo of the worms comes up on my computer above your blog...they are the little brownish red squares by the rock

I don't see any pictures. Red Planaria won't make frogspawn & mushrooms die. Too much light could be the culprit. How long do you run your lights, and what specifically do you have over the tank?

    hopefully these pictures work out

You have a couple of options. First thing though, you should resize your images to something that fits a computer screen that isn't a massive download for everyone to view, like everyone does with their Smart Phones for example. You take a picture with your 12 megapixel camera that is 5 megs, but we don't want to download a 5 meg image to see it. It's actually much too big to view anyway. Your computer or email program simply squeezes it down to size so you can view it, but it is big so as to be printable. No-one viewing your posts will or ever should print your images with your permission, right?

So you can resize it with a program you own, or use an online free service to do so. Here are two: http://www.dfwmas.org/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=83914

Depending on the browser you use, you may have the option to "browse" to your harddrive and select a picture or you may have to paste in the URL where it is currently hosting, like Photobucket (which is free).

You can upload images to your Gallery area here, and then share them from that location by pasting the URL of that image in your blog entry.

Look into building an Algae Turf Scrubber. You may never need a skimmer with one. Check out algaescrubber.net FAQs.

1AaronTravels: Definitly! It'll pull out all the particles that float around the tank as your live rock cures and help keep the ammonia spike to a minimum. If the water quality gets too bad during the cycle it'll kill some of the creatures you bought the live rock to obtain.

Kitch40: What type of nitrate filter did you have in mind?

On this same thread, should a Protein skimmer be turned on when cycling the tank with Live rock???
    Thanks Guys,
    Aaron
