    Been getting a lot of work done lately. Most recently I've been transferring corals over. Here is a shot I took today while experimenting with white balance.   2. finished stand with lighting up next

    I don't have a handy image of the stand painted, but here's a shot of gluing the two sheets of plywood together. It has proven to yield no deflection and should suffice as a catwalk around the tank. I have since cut out overflow spots and painted the top with 3 coats of primer.

  3. Stand structurally complete

    The stand is structurally complete. I added some lower cross braces between the legs, some middle cross braces across the top, and doubled up the beams on three sides.



    If you look in the picture below, you can tell that the two long directions are not symmetric. The side on the left of this picture will be bolted to the wall and will use the wall frame for addition structural strength. ...

  4. Lighting

    I was able to work on the main display lighting this last week, and here are a few images. The lighting will be comprised of a trio of lumen bright mini wide pendants, 20kK Radium bulbs, and 250W lumatek ballasts. The light rack also has 36 Cree LEDs on it driven by meanwell drivers (6 white, 30 royal blue). The LEDs will provide dawn/dusk control, as well as supplemental lighting during non-MH times (as I typically only run metal halide bulbs in the 4-6 hour range per day). I built a light ...
